Nina first got the design and interiors bug when working in real estate funding and management in her native Poland. Through export sales and product development roles at The Paper Partnership Wallpapers Limited and Holden Decor Nina has travelled extensively and developed key relationships with leading wallpaper distributors from all over South America, USA, Russia, Baltics, Southern Europe, North Africa and Western Europe. Working closely with her husband, Alan, Nina has also helped put together numerous wallpaper collections to meet the demands of Middle East and China, key markets for medium to high end wallpaper collections. Nina has recently launched her own brand – Nina Hancock Wallpapers. Although based in the UK the brand is, very much, export focused and the collections are being developed with global appeal. From selecting designs, colouring the full line to creating the graphics, point of sale and travelling the globe to place the collections, Nina is hands on through every step. A keen customer focused eye Nina is continually looking for inspirational designs with global appeal.

Having initially trained in Fine Art at Doncaster College of Art, I began my working career as a Technical Draftsman moving from there into Technical Illustration. After several years working at a drawing board, which saw a period of time where I worked as a Technical Illustrator on archaeological excavations, I secured a position working in the design studio of Zoffany Limited, then based in Leeds. At that time Zoffany had its own short-run manufacturing capabilities and so I became increasingly involved in the whole product development cycle through the design phase and on into colour sampling and production. Following a factory relocation to Leicestershire, I became more and more involved in the production cycle and so took up a design and sales development roll at Anstey Wallpaper Company, where I have remained to this day. During my time at Anstey I have held both creative and ‘commercial’ roles, with the latter taking priority in recent years, however my training and initial grounding in design continues to be a vital foundation to the job I now do.
My passion of drawing and painting led me to join the wallpaper industry 9 years ago when I started working in the creative studio for one of the largest wallpaper manufacturers’ in Germany. I was responsible for both in-house projects and bespoke customer requirement. Working on diverse projects has developed my creative handwriting enabling me to successfully interpret wide-ranging ideas and styles. It gives me great pleasure and satisfaction in taking my work through from its conception to completion as a roll of wallpaper. I am eager to understand all stages of the process and learn about all different production methods as I believe this knowledge will help me get the very best out of the production process which, in turn, will deliver the very best designs for our customers. Last year I moved companies and countries, to take up the challenge of Studio Manager with a long established French wallpaper manufacturer and working with a creative, dynamic and passionate team, I look forward to many more years in a career that I love.
